Class Overview

Week 1: Kit Overview, Practice Pack Introduction

Covering the basics of everything that is included with the Soldering Kit, this class will help you understand your new tools and how use them safely and effectively. We will be practicing the art of PCB soldering, learning how molten metal reacts at different temperatures and how to make strong connections.

Week 2: Circuit Diagrams, LED Gyro Top

This beginner project will expand on the skills learned from the practice pack by teaching you how to read and follow circuit diagrams. Enjoy a fancy LED light show as this top is spin activated!

Week 3: Wireless Electricity, Mini Tesla Coil

Expand your understanding of how electricity flows through our universe. Practice your circuit diagram skills by building a radio wave generator that can transmit electricity to a light bulb through the air. Witness the power of high frequency waves as they excite gasses inside of a neon bulb to create light.

Week 4: Integrated Circuits, LED Tracking Game

An introduction to integrated circuits, this challenging project will put your skills to the test. After completing hundreds of solder joints you'll have a fun USB powered LED light chaser game to play with.

Week 5: Surface Mount Components, LED Light Chaser

This advanced level project will teach you micro soldering skills with it's surface mount components. Master the art of soldering tiny connections.

Week 6: Audio Drivers, Ultrasonic Levitator

An advanced gravity defying project that utilizes high frequency sound to levitate small beads. Increase your surface mount soldering skills and observe the power of sound waves.
